July 04, (THEWILL) – Guinness World Records management has sent a polite reminder to interested applicants, who wish to set a new record.

GWR management took to its Twitter page on Tuesday, to urge interested applicants to ensure their attempt to break any record is verified by them before they embark on such a task.

It further noted that applicants can visit their website to see how the process works.

“Polite reminder that you should probably have your world record title confirmed by our team before attempting it, here’s how our process works,” GWR tweeted.

This development is coming a few weeks after a Nigerian, Adeola Adeparusi, embarked on a 150 hours cook-a-thon to break Hilda Baci’s record even before she was officially certified as the new GWR holder for the longest cook-a-thon by an individual.

It was after cooking for 150 hours that she disclosed that she didn’t officially apply to break any world record.

Another Nigerian, Joyce Ijeoma, who is a masseuse, also attempted to break the record for the longest massage-a-thon by an individual.

She ended the task after collapsing while massaging a female. It was, however, not stated if her attempt at breaking the record was confirmed by GWR.
