Ekpa-led group declares 14 days  sit-at-home civil disobedience in Biafraland

The Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE) and Biafra de facto government-in-homeland has declared a sit-at-home civil disobedience in Biafraland, starting from July 31, 2023, until August 14, 2023.

In a public service announcement by the group’s self-acclaimed Prime Minister, Mazi Simon Ekpa, the group said “this action comes in response to the Biafra people’s demand for more sit-at-home civil disobedience.”

Ekpa said the sit-at-home period would serve the following purposes:
▪Demand the immediate and unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is unlawfully detained at the DSS facility.
▪Prepare for Biafra’s self-referendum, highlighting the desire for self-determination.
▪Signify Biafrans’ determination to shape their own future.
▪Reinforce the legitimacy of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile as the only recognized government by the Biafran people.
▪Challenge the legitimacy of those who claim to represent Nigeria within Biafran territory.

The group leader added that the sit-at-home would commence on Monday, July 31, 2023, until Friday, August 4, 2023, resulting in a total lockdown in Biafraland.

On Saturday, August 5, 2023, and Sunday, August 6, 2023, there will be a break, and Biafran markets will be allowed to open.

Following the break, a total lockdown will resume from Monday, August 7, 2023, until Friday, August 11, 2023.

Ekpa said a break would be observed on Saturday, August 12, 2023, and Sunday, August 13, 2023, during which all Biafran markets would be open.

However, a final lockdown, he said, would be enforced on Monday, August 14, 2023, in Biafraland.

He emphasized the importance of market leaders adhering strictly to this order and treating it with the utmost seriousness.

Ekpa also called upon all oil companies operating in Biafran territory to suspend oil exploration activities during these dates to avoid provoking the anger of the Biafran people, which might lead to severe consequences.
