July 08, (THEWILL) – After suffering a defeat in their opening Naija Super8 Group A fixture against Remo Stars, Enyimba coach, Finidi George, remains positive and determined.

Despite the setback, George, who recently secured his first-ever coaching title with Enyimba in the league, is encouraging his team to bounce back and tap into their resilient spirit. In the match, the Aba-based side managed to equalise before halftime, but struggled to contain Remo-Stars’ new signing, Isaac James, who made a significant impact by scoring a goal and assisting another.

In his post-match comments, the former Nigerian International expressed unwavering belief in his team’s ability to improve as the tournament progresses, saying: “I think everything is possible. We will not relent in our efforts as we still have two more games to play, and we will give our best to make sure that we qualify. I also think this team will get better as we progress. With this first game, we can see where we are and can also see where we need to measure up, and by the time we play the second match, it’s going to be different from what we saw here today.”

Undeterred by the opening day loss, Coach Finidi George stressed his team’s unwavering winning mentality: “We always play to win, and nobody knows what can happen, we still have a long way to go. We saw how it happened in the Super Six, and at the end of the day we still won it, so I’m not worried. We have two more games, and I think we will win them and get to the Semi-Final, then we’ll see what happens.”

In their upcoming fixture, Enyimba are scheduled to face Sporting Lagos F.C. on Sunday at 4:30 pm. This match presents a vital opportunity for the People’s Elephant to recover from their initial setback and regain their winning form in the Naija Super8 tournament. Subsequently, they will conclude their group stage campaign with a game against Katsina United on Tuesday.
